- 2014
Created by friends, for friends
Friends George Mendoza and Gabriel Ruiz opened Wursthaus on 4th Street in 2014: gourmet sausages, German and Belgian beer, and a laid-back hall at the eastern end of downtown.
- Haus
Why the name
“We are a sausage restaurant in a cool haus (building). That’s Wursthaus in German.” — George Mendoza
OC Weekly, 2015 - ?
The question everyone asks
“Is there somewhere to eat our food?” Yes. Order at the counter, then walk down the hallway: the restaurant and bar are in the back.
Gabriel Ruiz, OC Weekly, 2015
“I haven’t had better sausage sandwiches anywhere in OC.”
04 · The hall
Long tables. Five mustards. A bar in the wall.
The back room is one big hall: communal tables, squeeze bottles of mustard on every one, and the bar set into the wall. Come for a sausage, stay for the next round.
